I have a client who doesn't want his name associated with a certain file I uploaded. I deleted the file on archive.org and reposted it anonymously but the post still shows up in a google search, is there any advice in removing this? Will it time out? Does archive.org put the robots.txt file up to clear deleted pages from google cache?

thanks

-google will only let the owner of a site delete urls from it's database.

If you remove the file Google will (eventually) remove it. They'll have to find that it's not gone first and that can take a while.

A link to it's old location might help them find that the URL is missing.

I had this problem when I was developing my website. I started using google webmaster and in one of the settings there is a place where you can tell google that the page is not valid. It normally takes about 3 days for google to do this. Also I increased the google crawl rate to the maximum. This can be done on the same webmaster site.

If this doesn't work we can try another approach

Hope this helps

Sorry, my post earlier was way off target. Hopefully by this time google has taken your file out of its indexing.
